New York Mills man arrested on rape charge

(WKTV) - A New York Mills man has been accused of rape, according to New York State Police and the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.

Ajarel L. Patterson, of White Street in New York Mills, is charged with rape in the third degree.

According to Chief Deputy Dean Obernesser of the Child Advocacy Center, Patterson had an ongoing relationship with a 16-year-old girl.

The investigation was conducted by State Police Investigator Todd Grant, who is currently assigned to the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.

Patterson was arrested in the Village of Oriskany and arraigned in the Village of New York Mills. He was sent to the Oneida County Jail on $30,000 bail, however Patterson was already on bail from a weapons charge from October 2013. The bail from that charge has been revoked.
