New grant will help clean up graffiti around Utica

(WKTV) - Mayor Robert Palmieri announced Tuesday that a $25,000 grant will go toward cleaning up spots of graffiti around Utica.

The mayor said the money will go toward removing the paint from 75 sites around Utica and two new murals will be painted on the estimated 10,000 square feet, with the goal of improving the quality of life.

"We know we'll make a difference and people will take pride in their neighborhoods," said Kari Johnson, director of volunteer services at Parkway Center.

Utica is one of only 23 cities to win one of these Cities of Service Impact Volunteering Fund Grants, which are funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies.
