(WKTV) - William W. Crist has been named as the new superintendent of Catholic schools for the Diocese of Syracuse, Bishop Robert J. Cunningham has announced.
The Diocese of Syracuse has 22 schools in a seven-county area, including Notre Dame schools in Utica and Rome Catholic School in Rome.
Crist has worked in education for 31 years. Since August, he has been the interim superintendent of schools for the Massena Central School District. Before that, Crist was superintendent of schools for the Oswego City School District.
Crist is a graduate of Ithaca College, where he received a masters of music education degree. He also completed a certificate of advanced study -- educational administration at State University of New York; a certificate in labor relations at Cornell University and completed the superintendent development program of studies at SUNY.
Crist will begin the new post on March 10.
