Ceremony for newest U.S. Citizens takes place in Rome

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - A day after the nation paused to reflect on one of the worst tragedies in American history, Central New York honored what it means to be an U.S. citizen, Thursday.

52 people from 19 different countries were sworn in as the newest citizens of the United States of America at a special ceremony in Rome.

The ceremony contained a special performance of the national anthem by a choir, as well as a presentation of the colors by RFA ROTC.

The event also marked a major milestone in the lives of the new citizens, as it gave them full access to live what they know to be the "American Dream."

The ceremony was sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution, Fort Stanwix Chapter.
