By WKTV News

HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - The sister of a woman killed during a police pursuit in Herkimer County has filed a notice of claim with the village of Herkimer.

On May 24, Gail Pietruska of Frankfort was turning at the intersection of Route 5 and Paratore Road in Schuyler when another car being chased by police crashed into her. Pietruska later died from her injuries in the crash. Her sister, Louise Medallis, was a passenger in that car and survived the crash.

The driver of the other vehicle, Daniel Conklin, was being pursued by a Herkimer Police Officer after he allegedly committed a traffic infraction and pushed a woman out of his car in the village.

Plea talks are currently underway for Conklin with the Herkimer County District Attorney's Office.

Medallis filed the claim with the Village of Herkimer, but the details of that claim, including who is named in it, were not available.
