O'Scugnizzo celebrates a century of pizza

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - It's been 100 years since O'Scugnizzo Pizza made its unique debut.

On Thursday, the Burline family celebrated a century of rolling in the dough with friends and loyal customers at their Bleeker Street restaurant.

O'Scugnizzo's built their reputation largely on their unique "upside-down" pizza with the sauce on top of the mozzarella.

"It's just a big milestone," said Steven Burline, co-owner of O'Scugnizzo. "One-hundred years seems to be a long time."

Burline said the family restaurant is now being run by its third generation.

Utica natives who live elsewhere just can't do without their O'Scugnizzo pizza, so the Burline family ships their pizza all around the country. They said they get tons of orders, especially around the holidays.
