(WKTV) - Search crews continued the search Tuesday for Donald Combs, a man who went missing while hiking near the Town of Forestport.

State forest rangers, New York State Police with K-9 units, volunteers from the fire department and local search federations are coming the area where Combs went hiking Thursday near Gull Lake.

The crews have progressed to grid searching, as well as canoeing. Officials say they're making progress because they are eliminating locations where he could be and have also found some of his belongings.

"We've found a few articles of clothing," said Lt. Joel Norwalk of the New York State Forest Rangers.
Norwalk also said they found a pocket knife Combs is known to carry near an area where he was going.

Combs left a note at his home in Sauquoit telling his family he was going camping and would be back Saturday. Authorities and the family are holding hope that he just lost.

Those with any information are asked to call authorities.
