Officials give children at Johnson Park Center a merry Christmas

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - Two top state officials came home Monday to make sure 32 children have a merry Christmas.

Commissioner Roann Destitio, who is with the Office of General Services, and Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi, spent time at Johnson Park Center.

Some of the children have absolutely nothing, and they need the very basic things many of us take for granted.

On Monday, each child got one coat and multiple toys.

"We brought coats, we brought toys, we brought school supplies," Destitio said. "The governor believes when any New Yorker needs something, every New Yorker is there."

Families turn to the Johnson Park Center for a few different reasons. Many of the families there have battled homelessness, abuse or addiction.

Monday's donations came from all across the state.
