EPHRATAH, N.Y. (WKTV) - At least two people are dead after a plane crashed near the town of Ephratah. The crash happened at around 6:00 p.m. Friday. Fulton County Sheriff Thomas Lorey says three people were on board. They recovered a female body and a male body. Authorities are searching for the third person, who is believed to be male. The plane originating from Bedford, Massachusetts near Boston and was headed to Griffiss Park in Rome. Law enforcement officials said most of the Piper PA 34 aircraft was submerged in a large pond in a wooded area. The investigation has been paused for the overnight and will continue Saturday morning, when divers can return to the water. The plane was affiliated with Angel Flight, a nonprofit group that facilitates volunteer pilots to transport sick patients, according to officials. The identities of those on the plane are not known.
