One injured, one dead in Frankfort motor vehicle accident
FRANKFORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Town of Frankfort Police Department is investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that happened early Saturday morning.
At approximately 2:15 a.m., officers patrolling the area of 2600 Southside Rd., heard what they believe sounded like a serious accident. After searching the immediate vicinity, and arrived on the scene, they discovered a car rolled over, with both its driver and passenger unresponsive.
The victims have been identified as Joseph Lasher, 26, and Joshua Rothstein, 27, both of Utica.
According to officials, Lasher, the driver, sustained severe injuries and is currently at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, and is listed in serious condition.
Rothstein, the passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.
After reconstructing the accident, the Frankfort Police determined that the vehicle identified as a 2009 Toyota Camry was traveling West on Southside Rd., when Lasher lost control of the vehicle and entered a ditch parallel to the roadway.
Following the vehicle exiting the road, it proceeded to roll multiple times and became airborne striking several trees.
The investigation into the exact cause of the accident is still ongoing, and no charges have been announced at this time.
