Elderly woman killed in Kirkland car-pedestrian accident


KIRKLAND, N.Y. (WKTV) - One person is dead after a car-pedestrian accident in Kirkland, Saturday afternoon.

At approximately 3 p.m., crews responded to a call in the area of Fountain St. and Martin Rd, where they found that a 78-year old woman had been hit by a pickup truck.

According to officials, the woman was riding a bicycle without a helmet when she was struck by the vehicle on the nothbound side of Fountain St.

The woman has been pronounced dead, and Kirkland Police are waiting to notify the next of kin before they release her name, or the driver's.

Officers are still investigating the accident, but there are no charges pending at this time.
