One-of-a-kind historic school shows a bygone era of education

FRANKFORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - Just one historic school house out of nearly a half dozen from the 1800's still stands in Frankfort. Years ago, you'd find a school house every six or seven miles.

That's because the mode of transportation to get to school was usually your feet.

Sunday, the Frankfort Historical Society took us back in time to a schoolhouse built in 1841.

Members of the community got to come and check it out, and the highway department and the Frankfort Fire Department were also on hand.

The President of the Frankfort Historical Society, Kevin McNally said he's happy to give back to a community that helped to restore and preserve this old school.
