One person hospitalized after Rome accident

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - One person was hospitalized following a two-car accident on Rome-Oriskany Road early Sunday morning.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office says that 49-year-old Pamela Obenchain was traveling west, with her left signal light on and decided to make a right turn into a driveway. As this happened, authorities say another vehicle struck hers. The second vehicle was driven by 30-year-old Luis Dejesus, of Rome.

Dejesus was traveling west directly behind Obenchain and attempted to drive around Obenchain when she changed directions.

Upon impact, Dejesus' vehicle went off the road, onto the lawn and into the garage of a nearby property.

Dejesus was sent to Rome Memorial Hospital for a complaint of chest pain. Dejesus' three passesngers were not injured.

Obenchain and her passenger were not injured.

No tickets have been issued at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
