Oneida County 911 Center receives national honor

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - Oneida County is one of only four counties in New York State to have its 911 Center nationally recognized.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children says the local 911 Center has completed all the steps in the Missing Kids Readiness Project.

The center is now trained to properly respond to a call regarding a missing, abducted or exploited child.

"There's a time frame to get out there," said Sandy Yates, training coordinator. "Everything has to be done step-by-step to get these children home safely."

The Oneida County 911 Center has been working on the training for the past year.
