Oneida County Executive endorses Wendy Long for U.S. Senate

DECISION 2012 - Republican and Conservative Senate Candidate, Wendy Long, was recently endorsed by Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente, something she says is a big boost for her and her campaign.

Long is running against George Maragos and Bob Turner, both Republicans, all vying for the opportunity to run against Democrat Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.

"I am pleased to support Wendy in her efforts to win the United States Senate seat," Picente said. Her experience and strong knowledge of our Constitution, along with her commitment to reducing the size and the scope of federal overreach are exactly what upstate New York and New Yorkers as a whole need to represent them in the United States Senate."

County Executive Picente cited Wendy Long's experience serving on the staff of two U.S. Senators and a clerk for both a U.S. Court of Appeals Judge and a Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States as evidence of her firm understanding and belief in our nation and the Constitution.

"I encourage all registered Republicans of Oneida County to vote in the June 26 primary," Picente said. "It is important that Wendy Long is selected to be our Republican nominee and advance the cause of smaller less intrusive government."

Wendy Long said, "I thank County Executive Anthony Picente for his encouragement and support in the coming elections. As a leader who has stood up for Oneida County reducing the size and scope of government County Executive Picente's endorsement means a great deal to me. I look forward to working with him in the future to make Oneida County and New York a better place."
