Oneida County Law Enforcement Building re-named in honor of Deputy Kurt Wyman

ORISKANY, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Oneida County Law Enforcement Building in Oriskany is now called the "Deputy Kurt Wyman Law Enforcement Building."

The Oneida County Board of Legislators approved the dedication and its new name on Wednesday in an effort to remember the fallen hero and recognize the entire law enforcement community. The decision came on the same day that Christian Patterson was sentenced to life without parole in Wyman's death following a June 2011 standoff at Patterson's home in the Town of Augusta.

"These men and women are on the frontlines each and every day and they never know what they're going to face," said Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente. "What could seem to be minor or domestic dispute turns into the death of an officer,"

Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente says that although the dedication is a small gesture for Deputy Wyman's sacrifice, he will be remembered for generations to come.
