Oneida County Public Market a good bet for Labor Day weekend

By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y (WKTV) - Labor Day weekend is a huge weekend for the Oneida County Public Market outside Union Station in Utica. That's because so many travelers come into and out of the station for the weekend.

People entertaining guests stop in early at 9 a.m. to pick up their local meats and fresh vegetables.

There's always fresh coffee for the adults and popcorn for the kids.

The market has become somewhat of a staple for the local community, but it also brings out of town visitors, and people who have moved away and are coming back to visit to the train station on Saturday morning from May until October.

The market moves inside the train station in Downtown Utica from November until April.

Market Manager Beth Irons said, "We have a long and a growing list of people who come here every Saturday to get their shopping done for the week."

Irons said, "There is a growing trend of people who have roots here in Utica and have left and make a point to come down here and see us at the market when they come home."
