Oneida County Bar Association remembers friends and colleagues

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Members of the Oneida County Bar Association started their new year by looking back, remembering friends and colleauges they lost in 2012.

The association's annual memorial service happened at 10:00 Wednesday morning in the ceremonial courtroom of the county courthouse. Judges and lawyers filled the room to remember and honor Judge John L. Murad and attorneys Daniel Popeo and William Calli, Sr.

Friends of the three eulogized them, sharing favorite stories and memories.

Bar President Joseph DeTraglia says the service shows that local bar members are often very active in their communities outside of the courtroom.

"Here there was a lot of public service from these individuals, again, serving as a judge, serving as a county legislator, serving as the county attorney, being involved with local boards and organizations and non profits, so there is a lot more than just lawyering," says DeTraglia.
