Oneida Limited's "Spoonful of Hunger" raises $7,110 for Food Bank of CNY

SHERRILL, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Food Bank of Central New York received a big donation on Wednesday, thanks to a fundraising effort by a local company.

Representatives from Oneida Limited in Sherrill presented a check for $7,100 to the Food Bank of Central New York, money that will pay for 12,000 meals for hungry Central New Yorkers.

The funds are the result of the "Spoonful of Hunger" promotion that the company has run since October at the Oneida Company Store. During each Wednesday of the promotion, shoppers received a ten percent discount on purchased made at the Company Store and Oneida Limited donated 10 percent of sale proceeds to the Food Bank.

"The one thing that is great about the food bank is that they are able to buy at a higher quantity," said Amy Gebhardt of Oneida Limited. "So for us, giving them dollar donations equates to more meals for people."

Oneida Limited raised the money by offering promotions in their store with proceeds benefiting the Food Bank.
