Oneida man charged in weekend meth bust

ONEIDA, N.Y. (WKTV) - An Oneida man has been charged in a meth bust that occurred over the weekend.

According to City of Oneida police, Travis A. Ellsworth, 26, of Oneida has been charged with third-degree criminal trespass, third-degree unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine, criminal possession of precursors of methamphetamine and three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Ellsworth is alleged to have unlawfully entered a storage building behind a Genesee Street business and when stopped, police said he had in his possession a bag that he had hidden in the storage building. That bag contained precursors of methamphetamine, police said.

Further investigation led to a search warrant of Ellsworth's Genesee Street apartment, where he was alleged to have possessed 2.5 grams of meth. In addition, police said Ellsworth unlawfully possessed controlled substances (pills).

Ellsworth was arraigned and committed to the Madison County Jail without bail.

Oneida City Police were assisted by the New York State Police and the Madison County Sheriff's Department.

New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation responded due to the materials involved.
