Oneida man posthumously leaves generous train exhibit to Children's Museum
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A generous donation has turned into a new exhibit at the Children's Museum.
The fourth floor has been transformed into a train exhibit. About a year ago, Museum Director Marlene Brown received a letter from an attorney in Oneida, saying a man had passed away and left his entire collection to the museum. More than 90 percent of the museum's exhibits are interactive, and that includes the new train set. There is a foot pedal that kids can use to make the train stop and go, and Brown says the fourth floor was the perfect location for such an exhibit. "Where we positioned this, as you can see, the fourth floor overlooks the train tracks out here...overlooks the Adirondack Scenic Railroad," Brown said. "Kids love trains. All kids love trains." Paintings, lanterns, artifacts, everything on the display was donated by a man who once made a visit to the museum. They plan on adding to the exhibit, only half of what the man donated is on display so far. |
