Oneonta business donates toward beautification of Curtis Park

By WKTV News

ONEONTA, N.Y. (WKTV) - An Oneonta business is donating both time and money to keep Curtis Park beautiful.

The old gas station site was turned into a park in the 1970's and over the years it's become worse for wear. Cleinman Performance Partners owns the property right next door to the park and they've donated thousands of dollars for new landscaping and much more.

Oneonta Mayor Dick Miller says they've even volunteered to keep the park mowed, as Curtis Park is one of the main entrances to the city.

"When you come in to a town, your first impression of a community is based on the amenities, how they were designed, how they are cared for," Mayor Miller said. "First impression is really everything, so to have this be the first thing people see when they come off the expressway is really critical to us."

The mayor hopes to come up with a plan and some donations to spruce up the other three main entrances to the city.
