(WKTV) - The Ravens Challenge is one of the most prestigious training exercises with bombs and explosives in the country.
And Oriskany has been chosen as one of four spots across the country to conduct testing. Bomb squads from all over, as well as military personnel, will gather at the New York State Preparedness Center.
The training is run by the Department of Defense and co-ordinated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. It gives these personnel a better understanding of IEDs and preparation for possible terrorist attacks.
And what will those 11 days of training be like?
"You're going to see a lot of people in military uniforms, emergency vehicles, bomb squads," said Kevin Revere, director of emergency services in Oneida County. "You're going to hear explosions, and the people who disassemble bombs will be testing here also.
The testing will take place June 15-26, 2015.
