Out of the Darkness Walk to help in suicide prevention

By KATRINA SMITH

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is set to take place Saturday at SUNY IT.

The walk benefits the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Right now, suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States.

We got a chance to catch up with Joshua's Team at WKTV on Thursday night.

They'll be walking in the Out of the Darkness walk this Saturday rain or shine.

There is no registration fee to participate in the walk, but participants who raise more than $150 by the day of the walk, will receive an Out of the Darkness t-shirt at check-in.

This is how to raise money:

Join or create a team.
Email coaches@afsp.org with the name of the team.
Get a sponsor sheet from outofthedarkness.org, and then start collecting pledge.

Check-in Time: 11 a.m. to Noon

Event starts at Noon and ends at 2 p.m.
