Pamela Matt named Executive Director of MV Chamber of Commerce

MOHAWK VALLEY - Pamela Matt of New Hartford has accepted the position of Executive Director of the Mohawk Valley Chamber of Commerce following an extensive, nationwide search. Matt will begin her new role effective March 1, 2012.

Sam Berardino, Chairman of the Board, said "I am pleased that the Board has approved Pam for hire and is excited to welcome her to the Chamber. The hard work and dedication of our staff and the Board of Directors has allowed us to have a seamless transition, not missing a beat while this position was vacant. With the hiring of Pam, the Chamber will achieve even greater success in service to our members and the Mohawk Valley."

In her new role as Executive Director, Matt will work to promote area businesses, communicate the benefits of Chamber membership, and act as a liaison between businesses and government. She will assist the Chamber Board of Directors in addressing legislative issues and challenges facing the business community, as well as participate in strategic planning for long and short-term growth of the community.

"I feel honored to have been selected as the new Executive Director of the Mohawk Valley Chamber of Commerce and I am looking forward to partnering with members of the community, businesses and government leaders to enhance opportunities for growth in the Mohawk Valley", said Pamela Matt.

Raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Pam graduated from Trinity College, Hartford, CT with a B.A. in Economics and earned her law degree from Duquesne University School of Law. She began her career as an employment lawyer for Alcoa and General Counsel for CTR Systems, Inc. in Pennsylvania. Since moving to Utica, NY, Pam has held several development positions with two local colleges and most recently was the Human Resources Director for Mohawk, Ltd.

Pam is presently involved in several community organizations. She is the Vice-President of the Utica Rotary Club and is chair person for the Club's Youth Exchange and Group Study Exchange programs. Pam is a Paul Harris Fellow and Rotarian of Excellence 2010-2011. Her other activities include the Board of the Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees. Previously, she served on the Board of the Landmarks Society of Greater Utica and led a group of professionals on a month long exchange trip to Japan for Rotary. Pam lives in New Hartford with her husband F.X. They have five children.
