Route 12 back open after accident involving up to seven vehicles

PARIS, N.Y. (WKTV) - Whiteout conditions are to blame for an accident in the Town of Paris that involved as many as seven vehicles Wednesday afternoon.

The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. on Route 12 in the Town of Paris. New York State Police originally only found four cars at the scene when they arrived, but then found the additional vehicles further up the road.

Conditions were so bad, that one could not see the end of their own car on the road.

Only one person was injured, and authorities said it was only a minor injury.

A portion of Route 12 was closed for most of the late afternoon, but it has since been re-opened.

State Police said they did not expect more details to be available about the accident until at least some time on Thursday.
