YORKVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - Police say a church and a parked car were damaged in an accident late Tuesday night in the Village of Yorkville.

According to Yorkville Police, James Bolton, of Yorkville, was driving a pick-up truck westbound on Whitesboro Street when, around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday night, he struck a car that was parked along the right side of the road. The impact caused the parked car to then crash into a tree.

Bolton then continued onward, over a lawn and crashing into the Lifepoint Church on Whitesboro Street, police said. The foundation of the church sustained damage and was said to be caving in at some spots.

Shannon Campione, the owner of the parked car that was hit, said she and her friends heard a loud noise and went running outside, when they saw the damage caused to her vehicle.

"My car is totaled," Campione said. "There's nothing left of my car. There is a pile of metal is all. I'm just...thank god my daughter wasn't in the car. Thank god I wasn't getting into the car when he came by.

Police said Bolton suffered some minor injuries - cuts and bruises - in the accident, and has now been charged with driving while intoxicated.
