Parolee charged after search warrant uncovers drugs

(WKTV) - A parolee faces charges after a joint narcotics investigation in Otsego County, the Otsego County Sheriff's Office said.

Wayne Collins, 47, of Onenonta is charged with felony criminal possession of a forged instrument n the second degree and misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

According to officials, on Dec. 18 the sheriff's office Special Enforcement Bureau executed a search warrant on Collins' apartment. Authorities said quantities of Suboxone and Tramadol, both controlled substances, as well as $513 in cash and a fraudulent USA Virgin Islands driver's license were located in the apartment. Utica-based parole officers arrested Collins Dec. 18 on a parole warrant and he was taken to Otsego County Correctional Facility.

On Jan. 5, Collins was charged with the above charges. He is being held without bail because of three previous felony convictions.

The investigation was conducted by the Otsego County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division, Drug Enforcement Administration Albany District Office, New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and the Oneonta Police Department Detective Bureau.
