UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - How does it feel to win a million dollars?

A part-time bus driver in Whitesboro could tell you now that he's joined the winner's circle after buying a scratch off ticket at Byrne Dairy in north Utica.

On Friday, Philip Domser, 65, was presented with an oversized check for $1 million at the very place he purchased the winning Sweet Million ticket. Domser said that he usually plays Powerball and Mega millions, but his daughter Katy convinced him to give the Sweet Millions game a try.

"I was here one day and I was going to buy some quick pick lottery tickets and my daughter, Katie, asked that I get a Sweet Million ticket," Domser said. "So I was at the machine behind me, I put in five dollars and got a quick pick."

Domser did not check his tickets until reading in the paper that a winning ticket had been sold at that Byrne Dairy location. Domser brought his tickets to the store and checked his numbers against the winning numbers print out. He immediately signed the ticket and drove to the Lottery's Customer Service Center in Syracuse to claim his prize. He will receive his $1,000,000 Sweet Million prize in one lump sum totaling $661,800 after required withholdings. Domser, a retired firefighter, will keep his part-time job as a school bus driver for Whitesboro Central School District.

He said he plans to pay bills with his Lottery prize then decide how to spend the rest, "once the shock wears off."

On Friday, he said he will now be taking his wife on a cruise and then perhaps head to Hawaii in the Fall.
