Parts of Route 8 bridge closed for repair work

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - If you're traveling through the Town of New Hartford, the bridge is closed on Route 8 Northbound between Campion and Kellogg Roads while repair work is being done.

The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that starting Wednesday, April 10, traffic heading northbound on the bridge carrying Route 8 over the S&W Railroad between New Hartford and Washington Mills will be shifted to the southbound bridge in order to accommodate bridge construction.

The southbound bridge will carry one lane in each direction for the duration of construction, which is expected to last into the fall.

The DOT says that Mill Street will also be closed during construction and motorists will be directed to use the Campion Road or Kellogg Road ramps to Route 8 southbound.

The project will include replacing the bridge deck on the structure carrying northbound traffic over the railroad. Work on the southbound bridge was completed last year.

Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling through the detour and pay particular attention to all traffic control devices.
