Pat Bailey leaving WKTV after five years
(WKTV) - After more than five years of bringing the news to Central New York, reporter Pat Bailey will leave the station Wednesday to start a new chapter in his life.
Pat began his career at WKTV in 2006, after spending some time in Syracuse after graduating college. He went to Little Falls High School and then attended Herkimer County Community College for two years before graduating from SUNY Oswego.
Pat has been one of the area's most trusted journalists and reported on some of the area's biggest stories over the past five years. Just days into his tenure, Pat reported from the scene of the tragic death of New Hartford Police Officer Joseph Corr.
In 2008, Pat was on the scene of the F.X. Matt Brewery fire just minutes after it happened.
Pat also was the only local reporter to travel to New York City for Pope Benedict XVI's visit to America and made a visit to Washington, DC for the swearing-in of Congressman Richard Hanna.
On the lighter side, Pat has traveled with the Syracuse Orange in post-season play. He's been to New York City for the Big East Championship along with Salt Lake City and Cleveland for SU's bids in the NCAA Tournament.
For those who don't know, Pat isn't going too far, at least geographically. He will be the General Manager of the The Cage, the new sports bar co-owned by recently-retired UFC star Matt Hamill. He will continue to live in Utica with his wife Jennifer.
Pat's colleagues want to thank him for his years of work at NEWSChannel 2 and wish him luck with his new endeavor. We know we'll be seeing him, he'll just be very busy.
