Pedestrian listed in critical condition after being hit by truck

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Utica man is in critical condition after being hit by a truck on the North South Arterial. Police identify the man struck as William Schneider, 33, of Schuyler Street.

Utica Police say the driver of the 2007 Toyota Tundra truck, Vasiliy Pavlyukovlas, 42 of Utica, was approaching the Noyes Street intersection when he struck Schneider in the crosswalk at 4:20 pm Tuesday afternoon.

Schneider was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center where he immediately underwent surgery for several injuries. Schneider was listed in critical condition at 11pm Tuesday night.

No tickets have been issued, the investigation is still ongoing.

The North South Arterial was closed for several hours Tuesday evening while police reconstructed the accident.
