Philadelphia man killed in Madison County crash

EATON, N.Y (WKTV) - A man in his mid-50's was killed in a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of State Route 46 and Canal Road in Madison County, Wednesday night.

Initial reports from the Madison County Sheriff's Deputies say that the crash occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. when the driver, heading west on Canal Road, lost control of his vehicle and entered an area of trees, coming to rest 60 feet off the road.

The victim, who has not been positively identified, was pronounced dead at the scene by Eaton Fire/Rescue and was transported to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office in Syracuse for autopsy.

While the victims identity has not yet been confirmed, documents found at the scene indicate that he was from the Philadelphia, PA area.

The investigation is currently ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information is released.
