Philip Bruno announces run for Utica Common Council 6th Ward
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Another candidate has announced that they will be seeking the Republican endorsement for the City of Utica's 6th ward of the Common Council.
On Friday, Philip J. Bruno announced that he is seeking the endorsement of the Utica Republican Party for the Common Council's 6th ward.
Bruno described himself as a committee member for the North Utica area, where he currently resides with his wife, Pamela, and their three young children.
Born in Syracuse and raised in Oneida Bruno attended MVCC from 1993 to 1995 and says it he then began his career at Paolozzi Car World where he started out in sales and quickly moved to management. After working there for many years, he says he took a different sales job that allowed for me to spend much more time with his family . A year later, he started a small business called The Autolister.
He then decided to start a sales consulting business and work for himself, a business now known as Northeast Dealer Consultants, which he says has now been in business for six years.
"As a business owner, I have the time and the drive to devote to this the area that I call home," Bruno said in his announcement. "I believe that North Utica is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. I have a vested interest as a small business owner, father, husband and committeeman to this area. My ideas are simple work together, cut large spending, reduce big government and bring the power back to the people."
Bruno said that he has spent the last year attending various meetings and fundraisers throughout the the area, getting to know the people and gaining a huge amount of ambition and drive that he now seeks to put towards success as a common councilman.
Just yesterday, Utica College student Samantha Colosimo announced she would also be seeking the Republican Endorsement for the 6th Ward.
The seat is currently held by Dick Lawler, who has not yet announced intentions to run for re-election.
