Pitcher woman charged with manslaughter in baby's death

(WKTV) - A 38-year-old Pitcher resident was charged with manslaughter after an investigation into the death of a 3-month-old girl determined the baby had alcohol in her system, the Chenango County Sheriff's Office said.

Geneia M. Rood, 38, is charged with manslaughter in the second degree.

According to officials, Brenna Quinn died Sept. 5 in the Town of Pitcher. An investigation determined the victim had alcohol in her system. Rood was babysitting the infant at the time.

Rood was sent to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 cash bail. Rood will be in the Town of Pitcher Court on Monday.

Pitcher is about 25 miles west of Norwich.
