Plea offer rejected by man accused of sexually abusing child at CNY DSO
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A 36-year-old Rome man accused of predatory sexual assault against a child rejected a plea offer Tuesday in Oneida County Court.
Stephen DeProspero faces five felony charges regarding a 10-year-old boy. According to the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, DeProspero, 36, was being released from the Oneida County Jail on March 2 for a sentence served for possession of child pornography when he was faced with the new charge of first-degree criminal sexual act. The new charge was lodged after investigators developed information that DeProspero had allegedly sexually abused a child at a local Central New York Developmental Services Office residence where he once worked. The alleged incidents happened between September 2006 and December 2007. DeProspero pleaded not-guilty on Tuesday, and is due back in court September 14 to decide on a plea offer from the Oneida County District Attorney's office. |
