Plea talks under way for driver in fatal crash in Schuyler

HERKIMER COUNTY, N.Y.(WKTV) - Plea talks are under way in the case of a Rochester area man charged in the fatal crash on Route 5 in Schuyler in May 2012.

The crash killed a Schuyler woman and injured her sister.

State Prison officials brought Daniel Conklin to Herkimer County all the way from Monroe County where he is currently in custody on parole violation, but Conklin never saw the inside of the courtroom Wednesday.

Gail Petruska died in the crash.

Her sister, Louise Medallis, was hurt.

The Herkimer County District Attorney held plea talks with Conklin's defense attorney discussing what kind of sentences would be fair.

No specific offer was put on the table.
