Plymouth man accused of destroying property with ax

(WKTV) - A 39-year-old Plymouth man was arrested Friday after officials say he destroyed property in his home with an ax.

James S. Wilber was charged with reckless endangerment in the second degree, menacing in the third degree, endangering the welfare of a child and harassment in the second degree.

According to the Chenango County Sheriff's Office, Wilber was intoxicated and destroying property with an ax in the vicinity of a child under the age of 15. Deputies also say Wilber was kicking and throwing items at the child. The child climbed out a window and fled to a neighbor's home.

New York State Police and deputies arrested Wilber without incident. He was arraigned in the Town of Plymouth Court, where he was sent to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail.
