Poland Central School has annual Veterans Day program

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - Poland Central School had its annual Veterans Day program Friday.

Students sang songs and learned the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance. They also learned how important it is to serve in the military and fight for freedom. There was a proclamation from the governor read by a local veteran in honor of the day.

"It's really a generational experience for kids," said Chris Clancy, Poland Elementary principal. "They hear stories from veterans who were in World War II, during the Gulf War and Afghanistan and vets who served in times of peace as well.

"So it's a good experience for them to hear these stories that they might not get to hear otherwise."

Clancy says the theme was about character education and the veterans honored today exemplify a lot of the traits they teach students at Poland.
