Poland teen upgraded to fair condition after falling down ravine

DEERFIELD, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Poland teenager has been upgraded to fair condition after police say he ran into the woods after a party and fell down a ravine.

Oneida County Sheriff's officials say they responded to a one-car crash on Bell Hill Road in Deerfield Friday night around 11:00. While investigating the crash, police located a house party just down the road.

Several people ran into the woods, and one of them, 17-year-old Michael Pinto of Poland fell down a 30 foot cliff.

After being located, Pinto was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Utica before being transferred to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, where he has been updated to fair condition.

It is not clear if Pinto was the driver of the vehicle that crashed. The investigation is continuing.
