OXFORD, N.Y. (AP) - State police say a 15-year-old girl was behind the wheel of a car during an early-morning wreck that killed her and the driver of a minivan in Chenango County.

Troopers say Brandy Smith of Bainbridge was driving in the town of Oxford just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday when her Ford Focus crossed the center line and collided with a Dodge Caravan.

Smith died at the scene and 48-year-old David Clark of Oxford died later at a hospital. Police say a passenger with Smith and six people in the van are in hospitals with serious injuries.

Trooper Nathan Riegal says Monday he doesn't know if the other person in Smith's car is an adult. He also doesn't have information on the conditions of the survivors or if alcohol was involved in the wreck.

Oxford is in Chenango County, 30 miles northeast of Binghamton.
