By WKTV News

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) Police say a combination of alcohol and text messaging caused a rollover crash late Friday night in New Hartford. When officers arrived on Valley View Road they found the driver trapped inside- but alert.

Officers say the driver, 21-year-old Christina Falvo, lost control around a curve while text messaging on her phone. New Hartford police say they also administered field sobriety tests at the scene and learned Falvo had been drinking before the crash.

Falvo faces numerous charges including with DWI, operating a motor vehicle while using a portable device, failure to keep right and moving from a lane unsafely.

The New Hartford Fire Department had to cut out the windshield of the vehicle to remove the driver safely.

Falvo was evaluated at the scene by EMT's from Edwards Ambulance Service. She was not injured.

Falvo will answer to the charges in court next month.

A portion of Valley View Road was closed for approximately 45 minutes during the incident.
