Police: BMX rider robs woman


UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Police are investigating an armed robbery that happened Friday evening on Barton Avenue, between Genesee Street and Sunset Avenue.

Authorities say that a 25-year-old female was walking her dog when she was approached by an unknown white male riding a BMX bike. The suspect, who displayed a knife, threatened to stab the victim while demanding that she empty her pockets, police said.

The suspect took money and rode off on his bicycle heading west bound on Barton Avenue.

The suspect is described as:
*Approximately 24 to 25 years of age,
*About 5'9" tall,
*Having a thin build,
*Having scruffy/dirty blonde colored facial hair,
*Last seen wearing a gray and white horizontal striped zip up sweatshirt, blue jeans, and an orange colored winter hat.
*His clothing was described as dirty and baggy.
*The overall suspect's appearance was described as dingy/disheveled.

The BMX style bicycle the suspect was riding was described as dark in color.
