Police: No charges filed after standoff in Ilion


ILION, N.Y. (WKTV) - Ilion Police confirm that the 24-year-old male, who remains unidentified, involved in a police standoff on East Main Street was under the influence of bath salts during the incident.

According to authorities, police responded to 114 East Main Street after the man inside barricaded himself in the residence and refused to come out. Police say they closed roads around the area and established a perimeter of law enforcement.

Police say that the man threatened officers if anyone attempted to enter the home, saying the incident would turn ugly. The man was in possession of a firearm, according to Ilion Police.

Because of the potential dangerous situation, Ilion Police called in the New York State Police, Village of Mohawk Police and Village of Frankfort Police.

After some time of negotiation, the man surrendered around 5:40 p.m. He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital for medical treatment.
