Police: Dolgeville officer assaulted while making domestic dispute arrest

DOLGEVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Dolgeville Police officer was injured after authorities say he was assaulted by a suspect while trying to make an arrest.

According to police, Brandon L. Burdick, 21, of Dolgeville, has been charged with second-degree assault, third-degree assault and resisting arrest.

Police say around 3:15 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, Burdick was involved in a physical domestic dispute and struck his father numerous times, injuring him. While the the officer was attempting to place him in custody, police say Burdick struck the officer numerous times in the head and face and repeatedly choked him.

The officer was able to take Burdick into custody following a brief struggle, police said.

The officer was transported to Little Falls Hospital for evaluation of the head, facial and back pain and was then released.

Burdick was arraigned in the Town of Manheim Court and sent to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
