Police: Driver did not stop at railroad crossing

WHITESTOWN, N.Y. (WKTV) - The driver of a tractor trailer that was struck by a passing train at a railroad crossing has been ticketed for not stopping at that crossing.

Whitestown Police say Fox Ward of Maceo, Kentucky was driving his 2008 Volvo tractor trailer while trying to cross the railroad tracks leaving the Scooby Dog Factory when his truck was hit by a CSX train heading west.

The train was traveling about 35 to 40 miles an hour when it hit the truck.

Ward suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica.

Ward has been ticketed for failing to stop at a railroad crossing. He is due in Whitestown Court on August 9th.
