Police encourage community to inform of illegal gun use

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV)--The Utica Police Department is starting a program in an effort to reduce gun violence in city neighborhoods.

The "Stop the Violence Gun Rewards Program" is meant to target criminals who unlawfully possess firearms.

Utica police will pay a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of anyone carrying, selling or using firearms illegally.
