UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Police and fire crews were called to the Scottish Inn motel in North Utica on Tuesday morning after they say a suspicious device was located in one of the rooms.

Utica Police said the original call came in as a "distraught person" at the motel around 9 a.m.

Once on the scene, authorities checked one of the rooms at the Scottish Inn and found what they referred to as "a suspicious device" in the bathroom.

The motel was evacuated by authorities and the New York State Police Bomb Unit was called in to investigate.

The Utica Police located the distraught person from the original call, and that after they inspected the device, they discovered it was not dangerous and cleared the scene.
