Police investigate shots fired call near Sunset and Shaw in Utica

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Police are looking for the public's help in a shots fired call Sunday night.

Utica Police Officers responded to the area of Sunset Avenue and Shaw Street in regards to shots fired around 9:35 p.m. on June 23 where they found several spent shell casings from a handgun as well as traces of blood.

Authorities say it is unknown at this time if someone had been shot, but say a black male, roughly six feet tall, wearing blue jeans and a dark, long sleeve shirt was seen running westbound on Shaw Street after the incident and then northbound on Sunset Ave.

Additionally, a white colored vehicle was seen leaving the area around that time and headed toward Genesee Street.
