UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica's police chief is scheduled to meet with the family of a man who says police wrongfully beat him up. Protesters took to the street Thursday with signs reading, " No more police abuse in Utica - We want justice."

Some people in the Hispanic community, feel that they are being unfairly targeted by officers.

The protest follows an incident on March 27th that was caught on tape.

Vivian Maldonado says her husband and father-in-law were beaten by officers.

"Because of the language barrier, they speak to us like, 'oh well, they don't understand us, it doesn't matter'... It does matter. We're human beings. We have rights."
